About Tech Recycling Solutions — Boston's Trusted Electronics Recycler
Tech Recycling Solutions is Greater Boston's leading certified electronics recycler and IT asset disposition provider. We operate as a DBA of Surplus Technology Solutions — a Massachusetts corporation founded by Lauren Eaton founder of the company in 2009. The Tech Recycling Solutions brand launched in 2018, and since then we've built the most rigorous, most certified, and most accountable recycling operation in New England — serving hospitals, universities, law firms, financial institutions, government agencies, and thousands of Boston businesses from our Waltham recycling facility at 131 Linden Street.
We hold several active certifications — including RIOS Certified Recycler, ISO 45001, WOSB, BBB A+, SBA, and SAM.gov — each renewed through annual third-party audits. As a woman-owned recycling company with WOSB certification, we also meet federal and state supplier diversity requirements for government and institutional procurement.
Tech Recycling Solutions is a WOSB-certified (Woman-Owned Small Business) company, owned, controlled, and managed by founder Lauren Eaton — verified annually by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Lauren Eaton
“I started this company because I believed Boston businesses deserved a recycler they could actually trust — one that treated their data with the same seriousness they did, and that genuinely cared where the equipment ended up.”
Lauren Eaton founded Surplus Technology Solutions in 2009 with a single truck and a conviction that ethical recycling and real data security shouldn't be hard to find. In 2018, she launched Tech Recycling Solutions as a DBA, expanding the company's brand and reach across Greater Boston. She has since built the company into one of Greater Boston's most trusted electronics recycling companies — also doing business as Waltham Recycling — leading a team of technicians and continuing to serve as the company's WOSB principal.
Data Security First
After seeing sensitive client data repeatedly mishandled by cut-rate recyclers, Lauren made RIOS Certified Recycler status her first priority — before the company had even five employees.
Zero Compromise on Environment
The RIOS Certified Recycler standard prohibits exporting toxic e-waste overseas. Lauren adopted it in the company's first year and has never wavered — even when it costs more to do right.
Built for Boston's Industries
Healthcare, finance, law, higher education — Lauren built compliance expertise specifically for the regulated industries that make up the backbone of Boston's economy.
Responsible Recycling, Without Compromise
Our mission is to give Greater Boston's businesses a recycler they can trust completely — one that protects their data, takes genuine responsibility for every device, and never takes shortcuts with the environment or with compliance.
We believe that ethical business is good business. Every certification we hold, every audit we pass, every zero-landfill guarantee we make — it's all in service of one goal: being the recycler that Boston's most compliance-conscious organizations can rely on without a second thought.
What We Stand For Every Day
Uncompromising Data Security
Every data-bearing device is tracked by serial number from the moment it leaves your facility. RIOS-certified destruction methods, chain-of-custody documentation, and certificates issued within 24 hours — no exceptions.
Genuine Environmental Accountability
Zero-landfill isn't a tagline — it's a contractual commitment. Every downstream vendor is audited annually. We refuse to cut corners by exporting toxic waste to developing nations.
Full Transparency, Always
Serialized manifests, weight certificates, destruction documentation, and downstream processing reports. You always know exactly what happened to your equipment — and you have the paperwork to prove it.
Industry-Specific Compliance Expertise
Healthcare, finance, law, education, government — we understand your regulatory framework. Our team is trained on HIPAA, SOX, FACTA, FERPA, and MA state law. Your compliance is our specialty.
People-First Operations
Our technicians are background-checked, NAID-certified, and treated as professionals. A company that respects its workers provides better, more accountable service — and we believe that completely.
Continuous Certification & Improvement
We don't coast on past certifications. Every standard we hold requires annual independent re-verification. We actively pursue new certifications because accountability is never finished.
